Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Its a 24 miles (39 Km) walk, taking in the three highest peaks (Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent) in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, passing the famous and spectacular Ribblehead viaduct.The Three Peaks make a combined ascent of about 5200ft (1600m), making it 244m higher than climbing Ben Nevis once. It will be hard work but great fun! When you return to the hotel you'll enjoy a relaxing, warm and welcoming environment where you can soothe the aches and pains of the challenge.  

Settle-Carlisle Railway

It's 50 years this month since Dr Beeching weilded his 'axe' on the railway network but thanks to the tireless efforts of many the Settle-Carlisle Railway was saved.  Described as 'England's most scenic railway' the Settle-Carlisle line has a regular timetable with eight departures a day. Mid week travel is quieter than weekends and with fares from as little as £9. You can reach Settle on the service easily from Leeds or Carlisle but if you are arriving by car at the hotel a trip along the line as part of your visit is a lovely experience.
